1. My heart has no interest in the source of passion,
Yet abandonment insists upon me or scattering.

2. How can I find solace from passion, when for it
There is a notorious sword against lovers?

3. They disobeyed my advice to curb their greed
Hoping for my solace from its love; they waited

4. And realized reprimanding them
Contradicts what they sought, and they expected

5. That however great their greed,
They have no share of its beams.

6. My fortune of union equals their fortune
Of my solace from its love, both deprived.

7. Neither its union nor my solace from its love
Has been decreed for them or me.

8. Don't the reproachers know their blame
Makes love more tempting the more they increase?

9. As if by dissuading me, they encourage,
And if they prohibit love, they order it!

10. I'm not versed in the ways of solace,
Rather I'm expert in passion's ways.

11. It's as if the bitter passion in my fervor
Is honey, and solace for me is remedy.

12. The troubles that mar its delight
Are pure, though its purity is bitter.

13. I have no substitute for passion's creed,
No, I'm not deterred from protecting it!

14. My patience to abandon passion weakened,
For who has a heart steadfast enough?

15. If I tried to hide passion, it would reveal itself,
My streaming tears cannot conceal.

16. The love residing in my heart
Is a conquering sultan, absolute in power.

17. Its troops are victorious over me
While my patience troops surrender.

18. If the sin of its love is forgiven, then the
Reprehensible sin of solace is pardonable.

19. I cannot abandon passion for one whose beauty
The sedentary and nomadic witnessed.

20. A gazelle whose languid eyelids,
When the night charms, themselves have charm,

21. Wakeful eyelids for passion
Staying up when their drowsiness sleeps,

22. If its tresses flow, they unleash
From my eyelids' clouds a flood.

23. In its tallness, poetry grew long, and rapture
In the one whose poetry and verse grew long.

24. I suffered from its roses and gardens, yet
I didn't harvest, only the sight harvested!

25. Its smile seemed a garden, so from my eyes
Streamed to its garden a river.

26. Doesn't the morning sun feel shy? For in its face,
Whenever it appears, there's a glow.

27. From composing pearls by its mouth I'm preoccupied,
The full moons are poems apart from it.

28. O thrower of embers into the yard and my blood
With the sword of its glance recklessly spilled,

29. Do not throw embers at my insides, for my
Blood has burning logs that keep it kindled!

30. Arrows of its eyes pierce my heart,
A decisive blow shattering the heart.

31. Passion for you has not been shared,
Rather, defiant of solace and broken.

32. O form of a branch in the gardens, so my heart
Became a bird pouring onto it!

33. With its captivating glance, it drove its bird
From its nest, so it returned to passion, nestless!

34. I wasted my body until no
Eye remains in my body, no trace.

35. Time betrayed me, though to it
I was with little goodness, and it less.

36. It breaks its promise to me, delays me,
Spurns me, and holds me in contempt.

37. I have no garment of good fortune to wrap
Myself in, among all people.

38. O time, if you refuse me my share
Of its union and chide me,

39. I do not care, for my fortune
Lies in Muhammad ibn al-Amir awaited,

40. The perfect king for whom thrones
Were set up high among people,

41. Son of the King of Kings - when weakened,
The former and the latter fell short of what he contained,

42. In valor his fearlessness shone like a sun,
While the night of wars was pitch black,

43. A sword unleashed against transgressors,
A flood released to the penitent,

44. Supported by God, given victory
In wars, and triumphing,

45. When donning white then red, the white
And red are terrified of him,

46. Whoever tries to defy him
Has deemed life and age insignificant.

47. Some may defy him out of their wretchedness
Despite his superior virtues - they crossed the line!

48. The seedling of defiance did not fruit for them.
Does defiance bear fruit?

49. If mountains opposed him, a cutting blade
Would match them in cutting them down,

50. As if destiny and fate constantly
Follow what he wants.

51. If time were deterred from wronging him
By his might, it would stop wronging him!

52. He is the king whose resolves
Make the stars rise radiantly,

53. He is the king whose glories
Make other kings' glories boast,

54. With an ambition reaching the heavens,
And a rank below which all sights fall short.

55. The justice of kings by which fate
Is balanced, and affliction eliminated.

56. His opinions on matters leave
Minds and thoughts at a loss,

57. When his talent deduces them,
They manifestly hit the mark.

58. If he followed them, the darkness’ gloom
Would surely be illuminated, no doubt.

59. If he matches his father in opinion, resolve,
And decisiveness when catching opportunities,

60. No wonder, for the branches’ fruits
Reveal the goodness of their origin, the tree.

61. A king whose joy, when unfurled,
Makes the sea, beside it, all islands,

62. From his palm and pride
Appear, on the day of intimacy, full moons and crescents,

63. When prominent atop his steed, you’d see
An eagle above it, and it a moon!

64. He possesses literary arts unveiled,
Surpassing all others in their hidden beauty.

65. His prose puts the stars to shame ingenuity,
His verse makes pearls appear dull.

66. No wonder if he writes illuminated works
Whose masterpieces spill pearls.

67. For his palm is an ocean of light,
And none but the ocean has pearls.

68. You built glories upon glories until,
If counted, they equal sand and pebbles.

69. Not every honor ascended, nor merit,
Except it belongs under your ascension.

70. Your glories - none preceded them,
No, you initiated them, innovated them.

71. You were honored with the robe unfurled
Over you, and all people unfurled around it,

72. A necklace you wore from the height of your rule’s mastery,
To which kingdoms and mortals submitted.

73. From the House of Osman whose days
Have, on its forehead, brilliant stars.

74. So rejoice and win, O King, with it -
The robe of the era spread over you,

75. And delight in the Eid that came to you in joy
Whose happiness dwells among your pillars.

76. The Eid of Fitr in which you excelled,
To an era of eternity, unbroken,

77. And be merry in the abode you settled,
In which good fortune - lasting - and life reside for you.

78. So accept from me a poem ennobled,
Next to which poems pale, however brilliant.

79. Unique in beauty, peerless in worth,
None can trade with its equal.

80. If my praise of you is long, no wonder,
For condensed praise of you is prolonged.

81. Except you, none boast my praise,
And praise rises with you, and boasts.

82. I presented it to you, after composing it
From my mind’s abodes hoping and awaiting,

83. Seeking your endorsement - and can
A composition be considered without endorsement?

84. May the heights of ascension remain for your rising,
Sheltering the sun of prosperity and the moon!
