1. I untied my sandal though comfort comes not from it,
Filled with ignorance, empty of proper behavior,
١. حللتُ سُوسة لاحلّ الرّخاءُ بها
بالجهل ملانةٌ قفرا من الأدب
2. As if its dwellers were pieces of wood leaning
Away with it forever, the sandal of wood
٢. كأنّ سُكّانها خُشبٌ مُسنّدةٌ
تبّا لها أبدا من سوُسة الخشب
