1. Glad tidings to the green kingdom and its governor
When he comes desiring to build up its empty quarters

2. Securing against fear whoever wronged before
Whether the wrongdoer or other than the wrongdoer

3. Paving the ways of justice, following
The traces of his father in upholding it

4. Muhammad and Ali son of Husayn, to them
Its remote and near people have submitted

5. Each came with the aim of doing praiseworthy deeds
Of removing injustice and uprooting its people

6. If disobedience makes Tunis sick
Then obeying it afterwards will cure it

7. And the whole green kingdom altogether
Without them its buildings would not be high

8. If someone unworthy took it over
He took it over without being worthy of it

9. So what lofty position was conferred on it
Other than them and their father conferring it

10. Or what garment of pride was it wearing
Except what they and their father dressed it in

11. The kingship in his two sons is innate
And in others, it is anomalous though they govern it

12. O ruler, all the lands bowed down
Their necks, rural and urban, in submission to him

13. When the days contended with you and
Whoever was your opponent, the sword judging between you

14. It judged clearly for you and returned
Its waters to their channels

15. And brought down the builder of the house on the day of judgment
And gave the bow its arrows

16. The hearts of all people were created to love you
You took truth or did not take it

17. For your days were its seasons
And other than your days were its winters

18. And the highly esteemed of all people became lowly
And the lowly of all people became highly esteemed

19. You came while its days were darkened with injustice
So your days made its nights radiant

20. Your good tidings give life, if it appeared
In the darkness of night, it would beget its daylight

21. If your command wanted to subdue the rebels for you
Without armies, their rough areas would be obedient

22. So may God grant you a lasting victory
As long as the world and what is in it endure

23. God made conquest easy for you
Of the fortresses built high

24. For the cave was a wondrous sign of yours
Its wonders are recited and time follows them

25. As for the events of Tershish, I did not see them
Except as a dream recounted by one relating it

26. For now, if you attempted to open the dam, it would yield
And if you tried to gain the lofty mountains, they would submit

27. For everything, O Merciful, You make easy for him
So increase thanks for what You have granted and make pure

28. You owe no person a favour that appeared
Except to the Lord of the lands, for He causes it to appear

29. Let no one claim any favour upon you, nor
A good deed, nor kindness that they initiate

30. So pardon with recognition, and pardon error
For pardon is closer to piety and causes it

31. The hands of subjects stretched out to you asking
The completion of pardon and safety you grant

32. For God will ask each about their flock
On the Day of Judgment, and the questioner is their shepherd

33. And if you took right without wrongdoing
And if you pardoned, it is a bonus you grant

34. There is no pardon but for a sin, and a young man's forbearance
Except for power he shows among people

35. And you have power while they erred, and one like you
Pardons and is forbearing regarding past wrongs

36. And do not resemble them in the words of gossipers, for it
Brings no benefit to your eminence, their gossip

37. May God eternally empower your state
And make your enemies miserable through its prosperity

38. It will not cease, as you rebuild it,
Its highest glories that your precedence established

39. And the star of fortune continues rising in
The sky of your supremacy, and God protects it
