لمن طلل تضمنه أثال

1. For whom is a ruined abode which includes meadows,
So sprawling, and imaginings, and a spring,

١. لِمَن طَلَلٌ تَضَمَّنَهُ أُثالُ
فَسَرحَةُ فَالمَرانَةُ فَالخَيالُ

2. And a little spring, even one with Sudeir,
For the comfort of sheep through it - refuge.

٢. فَنَبعٌ فَالنَبيعُ فَذو سُدَيرٍ
لِئارامِ النِعاجِ بِهِ سِخالُ

3. I recalled in it the horsemen and the reproachers,
So the tears of the eye flowing, and being ladled.

٣. ذَكَرتُ بِهِ الفَوارِسَ وَالنَدامى
فَدَمعُ العَينِ سَحٌّ وَاِنهِمالُ

4. As if I were in the nitty valley of Bani Uqaysh,
When you come calling them - they answer.

٤. كَأَنّي في نَدِيِّ بَني أُقَيشٍ
إِذا ما جِئتَ نادِيَهُم تُهالُ

5. Bustards gathered, and beauty in them,
Modesty, and ostriches, and the young mountain goats.

٥. تَكاثَرَ قُرزُلٌ وَالجَونُ فيها
وَتَحجُلُ وَالنَعامَةُ وَالخَبالُ

6. Remnants from the heritage of predecessors,
And what heavy caravans gathered.

٦. بَقايا مِن تُراثِ مُقَدِّماتٍ
وَما جَمَعَ المَرابيعُ الثِقالُ
