1. He whose finger God extends
With good or evil, with which besotted
١. مَن يَبسُطِ اللَهُ عَلَيهِ إِصبَعا
بِالخَيرِ وَالشَرِّ بِأَيٍّ أولِعا
2. Fills for him sins overflowing
And He destroyed Iram and Tubba
٢. يَملَأ لَهُ مِنهُ ذَنوباً مُترَعا
وَقَد أَبادَ إِرَماً وَتُبَّعا
3. And the people of Luqman ibn Ad, humbled
When they battled him, but he refused to be vanquished
٣. وَقَومَ لُقمانَ بنِ عادٍ أَخشَعا
إِذ صارَعوهُ فَأَبى أَن يُصرَعا
4. And the elephant the day of companions confounded
When the non-Arabs against it conspired
٤. وَالفيلَ يَومَ عُرَناتٍ كَعكَعا
إِذ أَزمَعَ العُجمُ بِهِ ما أَزمَعا
5. A caller called his Lord, who heard
So it avoided its lands cautious
٥. نادى مُنادٍ رَبَّهُ فَأَسمَعا
فَذَبَّ عَن بِلادِهِ وَوَرَّعا
6. And the guardsman and the masked confounded
And the army escaped in grievous defeat
٦. وَحابَسَ الحاسِرَ وَالمُقَنَّعا
وَأَفلَتَ الجَيشُ بِخِزيٍ موجَعا
7. Their latter ones blood spurting
You made the ignorant victorious
٧. تَمُجُّ أُخراهُم دِماءً دُفَعا
أَنتَ جَعَلتَ الباهِلِيَّ مِفنَعا
8. Among us so he became glorified, fortified
And the right of whom you raise is to be raised
٨. فينا فَأَمسى ماجِداً مُمَنَّعا
وَحَقُّ مَن رَفَعتَهُ أَن يُرفَعا
9. He was an ignorant old man, seasoned
Who knew not shoes when walked barefoot
٩. وَكانَ شَيخاً باهِلِيّاً أَضلَعا
لا يُحسِنُ النَعلَ إِذا تَشَسَّعا
10. Yet today he attained four prizes
Glory, honor, wealth, and refuge
١٠. فَاليَومَ قَد نالَ خِلالاً أَربَعا
عِزّاً وَمَجداً وَغِنىً وَمَفزَعا
11. So what you grant is not lost
١١. فَما يَنَل فَما نَراهُ ضَيَّعا
