1. The horses are led out at dawn when we prepare them,
And a raid that stirs up the resting camels.
١. لِلمُقرَباتِ غُدُوٌّ حينَ نُحضِرُها
وَغارَةٌ تَستَثيرُ النَقعَ في رَهَجِ
2. So the worn-out camel will not leave me behind,
A mount whose strap is tightened by the racecourse.
٢. فَما يُفارِقُني المَزنوقُ مُحتَمِلاً
رِحالَةً شَدَّها المِضمارُ بِالثَبَجِ
3. When war is announced, the sons of Aamir appear to them
Driving forward every trained warrior.
٣. إِذا نَعى الحَربَ ناعوها بَدَت لَهُمُ
أَبناءُ عامِرَ تُزجي كُلَّ مُختَرَجِ
4. Upon them are white garments and sturdy bodies,
As if the people are in turmoil.
٤. عَلَيهِمُ البَيضُ وَالأَبدانُ سابِغَةً
يُقَحِّمونَ كَأَنَّ القَومَ في رَهَجِ
5. They became frowning in the morning after being startled,
While they are high due to Ibn al-Jawn in the valley.
٥. صَبَحنَ عَبساً غَداةَ الرَوعِ آوِنَةً
وَهُنَّ عالَينَ بِاِبنِ الجَونِ في دَرَجِ
6. And the horses leapt from the valley of Dhinab
Their tongues panting red from exertion.
٦. وَاِنقَضَّتِ الخَيلُ مِن وادي الذِنابِ وَقَد
أَصغَت أَسِنَّتَها حُمراً مِنَ الوَدَجِ
7. If you ask the horses about us in their battle positions
On the day of clashing, when heroes are in turmoil,
٧. إِن تَسأَلي الخَيلَ عَنّا في مَواقِفِها
يَومَ المُشَقَّرِ وَالأَبطالُ في زَعَجِ
8. They will tell you that I return the attack among them
When the spears are broken on an intense day.
٨. تُخبِركِ أَنّي أُعيدُ الكَرَّ بَينَهُمُ
إِذا القَنا حُطِمَت في يَومِ مُعتَلَجِ
