1. Why didn't you ask, when the pollen blew gently,
The she-camels brayed and did not cease their complaint,

١. هَلّا سَأَلتِ إِذا اللُقاحُ تَرَوَّحَت
هَرَجَ الرِئالِ وَلَم تَبُلَّ صِرارا

2. We hasten to serve plain food to our guest
Before our families, and we seek the strings,

٢. إِنّا لَنَعجَلُ بِالعَبيطِ لِضَيفِنا
قَبلَ العِيالِ وَنَطلُبُ الأَوتارا

3. And we count days for us and deeds,
Steps with which we scorn the deserts and cities,

٣. وَنَعُدُّ أَيّاماً لَنا وَمَآثِراً
قِدَماً نَبُذُّ البَدوَ وَالأَمصارا

4. Including a beloved, going and returning, and in clarity
A day on which the glory of the one who marched triumphed

٤. مِنها خُوَيٌّ وَالذَهابُ وَبِالصَفا
يَومٌ تَمَهَّدَ مَجدُ ذاكَ فَسارا
