١. وَيَحمِلُ بَزِّيٍ ذو جِراءٍ كَأَنَّهُ
أَحَمُّ الشَوى وَالمُقلَتَينِ سَبوحُ
2. A buck in the desert of Al-Yafā’ like a ram
Who charges, behind the does, and collides.
٢. فَرودٌ بِصَحراءِ اليَفاعِ كَأَنَّهُ
إِذا ما مَشى خَلفَ الظِباءِ نَطيحُ
3. A hunter spied him in that land, so they loosed
A pack of hounds, urging them on with cries.
٣. فَعايَنَهُ قُنّاصُ أَرضٍ فَأَرسَلوا
ضِراءً بِكُلِّ الطارِداتِ مُشيحُ
4. When he feared their gaining on him, he plunged with
Terror into a gallop on trembling legs.
٤. إِذا خافَ مِنهُنَّ اللَحاقَ اِرتَمى بِهِ
عَنِ الهَولِ حَمشاتُ القَوائِمِ روحُ
