1. Is it not true, servants of God, that I no longer watch
The caravans one day and their dusty banners.
١. أَحَقّاً عِبادَ اللَهِ أَن لَستُ ناظِراً
إِلى قَرقَرى يَوماً وَأَعلامِها الغُبرِ
2. It is as if whenever a rider passes
The wing of a soaring eagle heading for its nest.
٢. كَأَنَّ فُؤادي كُلَّما مَرَّ راكِبٌ
جُناحُ عُقابٍ رامَ نَهضاً إِلى وَكرِ
3. When a group travels towards Yamaamah,
Passion calls you and your heart rejoices at the mention.
٣. إِذا اِرتَحَلَت نَحوَ اليَمامَةِ رُفقَةٌ
دَعاكَ الهَوى وَاِهتاجَ قَلبُكَ لِلذِكرِ
4. O rider of the howdah, you remain surrendered,
And you still fear the uncertainty of events.
٤. فَيا راكِبَ الوَجناءِ أُبتَ مُسَلِّماً
وَلا زِلتَ مِن رَيبِ الحَوادِثِ في سَترِ
5. When you come to the place, acclaim its atmosphere,
You will be saturated with the dripping of rainwater.
٥. إِذا ما أَتَيتَ العِرضَ فَاِهتِف بِجَوِّهِ
سُقيتَ عَلى شَحطِ النَوى سَبَلَ القَطرِ
6. For you are from a valley coming back to me
Even if you do not increase except in remembrance.
٦. فَإِنَّكَ مِن وادٍ إِلَيَّ مُرَجَّبٍ
وَإِن كانَ لا تَزدادُ إِلّا عَلى ذُكرِ
7. Perhaps He who ordains affairs with His knowledge
Will one day turn me back to it as destined.
٧. لَعَلَّ الَّذي يَقضي الأُمورَ بِعِلمِهِ
سَيَصرِفُني يَوماً إِلَيهِ عَلى قَدرِ
8. Then an eye will relax that does not tire of crying
And a heart will rest that scolding does not calm.
٨. فَتَفتُرُ عَينٌ ما تَمَلُّ مِنَ البُكا
وَيَسكُنُ قَلبٌ ما يُنَهنَهُ بِالزَجرِ
