1. When her eyes looked at me, her glance spoke,
And my glance responded, while we were silent.
١. إِذا نَظَرَت نَحوي تَكَلَّمَ طَرفُها
وَجاوَبَها طَرفي وَنَحنُ سُكوتُ
2. One of them gives good tidings of meeting,
While the other - my soul almost dies.
٢. فَواحِدَةٌ مِنها تُبَشِّرُ بِاللُقا
وَأُخرى لَها نَفسي تَكادُ تَموتُ
3. When I die of fear and despair, hope brings me back to life.
How many times have I died, then came back to life?
٣. إِذا مُتُّ خَوفَ اليَأسِ أَحيانِيَ الرَجا
فَكَم مَرَّةٍ قَد مُتُّ ثُمَّ حَيِيتُ
4. If humans and jinn stare at me altogether
So as to prevent me from coming to you, I would still come.
٤. وَلَو أَحدَقوا بي الإِنسُ وَالجِنُّ كُلُّهُم
لِكَي يَمنَعوني أَن أَجيكِ لَجيتُ
