1. With love upon love, while you remain stingy,
And they claim that a miser cannot love.
١. أَحُبّاً عَلى حُبٍّ وَأَنتِ بَخيلَةٌ
وَقَد زَعَموا أَن لا يُحِبُّ بَخيلُ
2. Yes, by Him whose pilgrims circle his house,
Whose thirst is quenched by the Nile though meager it be,
٢. بَلى وَالَّذي حَجَّ المُلَبّونُ بَيتَهُ
وَيَشفى الجَوى بِالنَيلِ وَهوَ قَليلُ
3. Indeed, with me lies a burning desire for you,
As camels yearn for shade when the heat is intense.
٣. وَإِنَّ بِنا لَو تَعلَمينَ لُغَلَّةٍ
إِلَيكَ كَما بِالحائِماتِ غَليلُ
