سِوى لَيلَةٍ إِنّي إِذاً لَصَبورُ

For he's obliged - great is a neighbor's claim.
٢. هَبوني اِمرَأً مِنكُم أَضَلَّ بَعيرَهُ
لَهُ ذِمَّةٌ إِنَّ الذِمامَ كَبيرُ
3. The man whose beast is lost has sacred dues
O'er him whose camel wanders not astray.
٣. وَلِلصاحِبُ المَتروكُ أَعظَمُ حُرمَةٌ
عَلى صاحِبٍ مِن أَن يَضِلَّ بَعيرُ
4. Allah forgive fair Layla in the dawn,
For should she judge, oppressively she'd rule.
٤. عَفا اللَهُ عَن لَيلى الغَداةَ فَإِنَّها
إِذا وَلِيَت حُكماً عَلَيَّ تَجورُ
