1. O summer fragrance from the pearls of life, turn towards me
With the dripping of rain, the place of youthful streams

2. On the dwellings of those I befriended
From the land of Jaw to the land of arabs

3. The singing passion and the place of joy that was ours
Among the bosom friends, the white, and the obedient maids

4. Today we grow among them, little refined bedouins
Seduced by the arts of beauty and grace

5. And they flutter from languor and swoon
As if they were statues among the veils

6. Dawn bearing moons surrounded
By the black of plaits in the red cloaks

7. O that beauty of color which they displayed
With the beauty of two hues, deep red and green

8. Every messenger returned their shirt at the hands
Of henna dyed fingers on the wrists

9. And every trailing train on the hips
Under sheer billowing untorn garments

10. We lived in the best of states, but then it changed
And time is fickle in affliction and upheaval

11. O the long memory of those I lost
Their passion remains, tormenting me endlessly

12. When I remember the dwellings of life, I overflow
From my eyelids in profusion of streaming tears

13. And I say O eyes, cease your copious weeping
And you, O soul, melt from the heat of passion

14. My heart can have no patience but to console it
One day with revelry of wine mixed and poured

15. We will spend the evening drunk on wine, spreading it
With all the most wondrous wines for revelry

16. Of excellent company whose conscience is pure
From strained refined wine in a measured pouring

17. When it falls into the cup gleaming
Like a star fading into the goblet

18. We hope from the wine to quell our listlessness
With yearning for a homeland or face of a loved one

19. Why make excuses when the days carry us
On the turns of time and wonders

20. And how can we be solaced by revelry or deserve
To avoid it with wisdom and experience

21. As for wealth, my traveling will bring it to me
From the land of Jaw on my traveling steed

22. I say to the ruins, when you are betrayed
Bite the pain between abandonment and desolation

23. Do not grow weary of traveling and bear
The touch of weariness and traversing the deserts

24. To the ruler, son of Abdullah, he has
A dear homeland and guardian not defeated

25. To the dearest of mankind and its noblest
Of non-Arabs and Arabs

26. To the generous, brave, man of help and protection
By generosity and might, hopeful and feared

27. Who protects the helpless, honors his neighbor, his way
Is to feed the starving and relieve the anguished

28. Resolute, praiseworthy of traits
Who purifies his pocket of shame and flaw

29. Through him virtue rises above the aspirations of kings
To the highest and noblest heights and desired goals

30. He manages affairs with experience and his upbringing
Was nurtured by time with discipline and refinement

31. Until his mind grew straight, not fooled
By events, leading not misled

32. So his angered cheeks rejoice in their glory
Of a formidable lion, attributed to lion cubs

33. A burly lion, father of the two cubs, whose side
Is protected and his sanctuary unbreached

34. If he ever resisted out of ignorance of his weakness
He would be struck by fangs or claws

35. Until the son of Abdullah subdued him
With justice and made peace between the sheep and wolf

36. He protected its villages so each dwelling
Became forbidden to plunder and ruin

37. Glory and might are with the cheeks, they are
The people of courage, young and old

38. Cavalry of the suns of Azd kings from Yemen
The best of humankind, truly without lies

39. A lion whose horses have grasping claws
Blue tongues amidst the snake fangs

40. Galloping in the day of their raid
Outstripping the loping hyenas

41. From every long-necked bald dun mare
Or bald-faced bay like the horse Sirhoub

42. When he stirs up a cloud, its drizzle rains
The blood of foes between stabbed and struck

43. And the absence of his radio was in its stables
A pasture of security among pastures of hyenas

44. O Abu Mugheera, God has singled you out
With virtues of glory never stripped away

45. And glory in your leadership when you took its reigns
Was a fire on Mount Ulai Al-Shannakhi

46. This while your lofty resolve and good intent
And prudent opinion are secure from error

47. Do not consider yourself to have an equal among seekers
Of military leadership, intimidation, and incentive

48. I ask God to grant you the utmost you endeavor
