1. The days of youth with pleasure have passed,
And welcome the time of gray hair well spent,

2. We saw gray hair as hated to avoid,
Yet now we wish to attain old age,

3. Perhaps we can make up for times gone by,
When nights took away and left us with regret,

4. So praise be to God gray hair now serves us,
With advice though we served youth as servants,

5. So feel patience secretly or openly,
Safety of religion under patience is protected,

6. You'll never see man's desires defeating,
His religion if with patience he remains steadfast,

The corrupt at heart may show hypocrisy,

8. As illness shows when hidden comes to light,
What I have shown of advice and deterring,

9. Is binding for me if I remain committed,
O heart why do you incline towards passions,

10. Perhaps tied down by suspicions and blame?
I see you aspire to trifles and to,

11. Keep company with flirtatious coquettes,
Lending an ear to each temptation,

12. Deaf to restraint the ears to love enthralled,
A beauty like an idol you admired,

13. Passionately though forbidden the worship of idols,
Alas! Only distraction opposes us,

14. Hopes or memories of youth frolic and play,
Do not deny an old man his delusions,

15. The sad may surprise you and give a smile,
These are delusions that ailments prevent,

16. As truth negates dreams during wakefulness,
Say to the deer graze safely without fear,

17. For the hunter is forbidden the sanctuary inviolate,
Memories of our playgrounds are renewed,

18. No more sensing the days of my youth,
I pour forth with concerns filling my eyes,

19. With tears but for patience nothing composed,
I have intentions hidden have patience,

20. And chastised my soul so decisively resolved,
As for poetry they say do not hide,

21. Eloquence nor reject wisdom and judgments,
My thoughts surged with verses thanking,

22. God for giving me blessings and bounty,
The generosity of Bani Nabhan has alerted me,

23. To utter wisdom's pearls and fine speech,
This is Abul Qasim the judicious,

24. Among us he won and gave freely his dues,
Ali has honored me with a gift,

25. So my gold gratitude for him is flagged,
Good and bad their nature's to reveal,

26. And clarify the defects and the perfections,
Tomorrow's blame and sins which are,

27. His fortune from wealth we chose oblivion,
Far from Abul Qasim the sublime,

28. Who inherited glory from Qahtan of grace,
God gave him resolve, determination and courage,

29. And ambitions lofty that ascend to the sky,
Nobles of Bani Nabhan vanquishers,

30. With might and glory heroes of great valor,
Azdi horsemen their steeds never censured,

31. On days of pride nor their swords blunted,
So Atiq exalted by God their rule,

32. Scaled the pinnacle of nobility and summits,
Clarified the paths of righteousness to tread,

33. And taught the virtuous habit of doing good,
From the heights of glory the generosity of,

34. Abi Alma'mar among them reigned supreme,
So I clarified for Qahtan their merit,

35. Whoever claims otherwise has wronged,
The discerning have insight to distinguish,

36. With wisdom the lights from the darkness,
Glory of ancients like a building if,

37. Later hands fall short of maintaining will collapse,
This is Abul Hasan accustomed to virtue,

38. So cite him as an example and take oath by him,
And boast of the master of Qahtan and his son,

39. With the excellence of his deeds and kindness,
Notice the glow of glory radiating,

40. On his cheeks' brocade and his sweet scent of musk,
Fair mannered, safeguarded from blights,

41. Gives freely when pleased, forgives when angry,
Generous when he starts an act of kindness,

42. Willing when resolving upon good consents,
He gives abundantly and gracefully,

43. We never knew him to reproach or tire,
Believe me Ali is above kings,

44. And false who claims the contrary,
Testify he's the most trusted,

45. Most virtuous, most faithful to his word,
A master whose kindness his eminence confirmed,

46. And compelled Arab and foreigner to acknowledge,
You, my master, ordained the Azdi lineage,

47. By your royal decree the pen has inscribed,
I praise him with what none can deny,

48. As if man knows what he knows,
Convey to Abul Hasan what hopes,

49. Prolonged or mighty, we constantly pursue,

50. May your house remain inhabited and frequented,
By pilgrims safely traveling and hosted,

51. Welcome the fast with zeal,
And the feast, Eid and sacred months,

52. Like pearls beaded with strung rubies.
