1. The jealous one has given up on blaming us,
The guard has been guided, the sluggish relieved,

2. Since far-fetched hopes faded and passion subsided,
The heedless sobered up, the oblivious shortened,

3. The companion of pleasures became, due to old age,
Averse to them as gray hair spread.

4. It seems as if pleasures in his heart
And sight are now distress and sorrow.

5. It seems as if melodies are howling winds,
And beauties poison that kills.

6. After being the places of his intimacy, joy, and love,
The first resort for meeting.

7. He now frequents remorseful gatherings of true friends,
Habits and natures change with honoring.

8. And white-faced visitors like statues visit him,
Shy gazelles with languid eyes.

9. Flaunting with coy glances and wrists,
Necklaces, bracelets, anklets and rings,

10. Each with a clear forehead as if she were
A rising full moon veiled by tresses.

11. She is a gazelle with her glances and slender waist,
A doe except her traits are futile.

12. She has a figure straight like a rod, and hips
Like a sand dune with a swaying waist.

13. As if she is a soft flexible branch,
Under which lies kindling upon ashes.

14. As if she gifted her glances and whispers
Magic and wine of Babel.

15. Alas the days of youth are gone,
And gray hair has settled in the abode of youth.

16. Will the neglectful ever be alert,
The misguided corrected or the inattentive reminded?

17. Time does go by with events,
So how can the wise be heedless?

18. Or feel safe from time’s changing hands,
While the intelligent try to resist it?

19. Hold on to guidance and work for your soul righteousness,
Each person is hostage to their deeds.

20. And look to the abundant gifts of God
That pass you in the mornings and evenings.

21. And Ali son of Abi Talib, the wise and glorious,
The lofty branch and all-encompassing lineage.

22. He commands and prohibits, defying him unbearable,
Near him one is cautious, another hopeful.

23. If the outcast seeks refuge through him, he gives it,
A fierce mountain with folds and strongholds.

24. And if he is tested with a question, qualities emerge in people,
Due to him, conducing to success.

25. For Ali son of Abi Talib there are favors
Apparent on necks like rain-drops.

26. As if his rest is the clouds and their pouring
Is pure gold, refined and torrential.

27. The abundant rain, the open-handed, the agreeable,
The courageous, valiant and audacious.

28. He aspires on the crest of glory,
Lofty ambitions beyond the pretentious.

29. May his father’s lifetime give him longevity,
Flowing through him, none can transport it.

30. O son of past kings who preceded,
With precedence in sublimity and beginnings.
