1. Enjoy the pleasures of youth while you can
Before old age overtakes you and bids farewell

2. An infant lies in the cradle of youth
Having had his fill of play, he weaned himself away

3. In his youth, he was enamored with maidens
And remained inclined towards idleness

4. He would visit meadows at night when shepherds slept
When the guard called the sheep to rest

5. And he would visit the maidens of the neighborhood at dawn
Delicate beauties adorned in fine robes

6. He would join the youths in the field of youth
Sharing with them the scintillating water of life

7. When the meadow was saturated with dew at dawn
And the morning breeze caressed it

8. Though devoted to pleasure, the bonds of love
Continued to be shredded by the hands of separation

9. So wonder not that I am awake
For long I have immersed myself in pleasures visible and heard

10. And mounted the steeds of youth only to find myself
Riding slow camels when youth had passed

11. And if wine has not left me sluggish
Or made me accustomed to drinking at dawn

12. Why does no one congratulate me in good times
Or console me if misfortune befalls?

13. My two friends - have you found
Any way back from the prime of youth?

14. Can you today make the whiteness
Covering our cheeks red again?

15. Take from the sweetness of life while you are intoxicated by it
And it bids you leave pleasure altogether

16. As for me, I have woken up to find old age upon me
And so avoid the pitfalls of fate

17. I seek to host guests, linger with companions
Cut off long journeys, and gather fine pearls

18. And I praise the noble lords of the clan of Ya'rub
The sons of Umar who walk the path of glory

19. I found the two glorious, valiant ones
Have reached the summit of loftiness and branched out

20. To the standard of the Qahtan and Ya'rub
I arrived and found a place for glory

21. Abu Al-Hassan the Sublime, the Generous, and his brother
Abu Al-Arab the most righteous and the most just

22. Both are the exalted, glorious lords
You see each as the most generous and gracious

23. Open-handed, proud, sheltering the anguished, answering the call
He reaches the path of praise through his munificence

24. Making himself a refuge for his people on the day they boast
He strives for the heights, knowing that glory

25. Is attained only by him who strives
When the brilliance of Dhahal and Ya'rub appears

26. They don the garb of nobility with grace
You see lions in battle and flowing benevolence

27. And hands that know how to give at the right time
O sons of Umar, your generosity has made

28. The hopeful see you as an open path
You remain the people of magnanimity, and your offspring

29. Remain a pasture for the hopes of the hopeful
We rode the steeds of poetry on your plains

30. And found them to be the greenest and most expansive meadows
We came to pour into the sea of your generosity

31. Hopes like vessels sailing with purpose
And I collared the steeds of your glory

32. With necklaces of ruby and pearl
Abu Hassan, you have adorned your life

33. With hopes living in safety, secure from any fright
And you remain, O Father of the Arabs, enjoying what

34. You endeavor in life and live in the utmost delight
