1. The darkness cried with invocations and excitements
For one who is inspired by the phantom of passion set aflame

2. And the night of meaning was prolonged when it was stirred
By the master of sorrows with torment and wakefulness

3. A night that stood over one endowed with glory and honor
And hung by passion amidst separation suspended

4. It is enough of agony and grief that passion for love raised for us
Its banner spreading in every beloved

5. And time busied itself with parting our fellowship
And time is a master of gathering and dividing

6. And every loyal companion of our loved ones betrayed
And who adheres to a covenant or pacts?

7. Loyalty diminished and I became a lover
With affection manufactured and tasted

8. And how can life in times go down easily in one
Who almost chokes me with saliva from it?

9. There is none but what God decreed of prosperity
Or adversity so be content my soul or abstain

10. Or recall our covenant and fellowship combined
And living purely not mixed with misery

11. My Lord spent the night intoxicated
With a star I was guided by or a meteor

12. When the rooster came on high grounds
Exciting us with melody after applause

13. I alerted every gentle refined flirtation
With play and wine in the morning baked and brewed

14. And I said: “O owner of the tavern, what about us
With a spinster who long aged from the barrels?”

15. If wine is prohibited then bring us
Whatever is extracted from a press or poured from a pitcher

16. And we revived the traditions of predecessors which appeared
Golden-yellow, gleaming in jugs

17. So he came rushing with it below the portico for it
A light pleasing the protective amidst the filled cups

18. I recognized that by the trellises, thriving
On the full moons of youthful bosoms in play suspended

19. Then I intercepted her in playfulness upon a passion
From me so I said to her unambiguously

20. And I may say when a southerly wind blows
With the sincerity of intimacy and the “Q” of the quilts

21. “O rain pour restrain in our dwellings
From an affectionate essence to essence of jugs

22. For you will not equal Ali in generosity even if
You insisted with imploring and exertion

23. Of benefit to me are yearnings or aromas in
Land, sea, exile and return

24. And gray are the hopes on his coast
Even if the floods attempt to submerge beneath

25. People lived by his generous acts and he covered them
With hands in imitation and siege

26. Look to any living being and you will not see
Except one provided by the dew of his palms

27. He did not specify people between nomads and urban
Rather he covered every human and beast

28. Blessed is Abu Al-Qasim who distributed the bounties
Among people between enabled and disabled

29. They pasture of his sufficient legacy in mighty elevation
As if it is a meadow tied to a peg

30. At the side of the generous one in whom we seek refuge
The bestower of flowing waters, opener of latches

31. Remain on his honor protecting and securing
What possessions confronted from extravagance and tearing

32. Succeeding in every good he does
Undeterred from doing good by discouragement

33. Advanced with ancient glory in generosity
To achieving the heights unprecedented

34. Of pure lineage, generous scion from Yemen
And from the lions of Omar, the hunters’ aid

35. Of the Nabhan family, the lords of Atik, for them is
The inheritance of kings from Al-Azda the renowned

36. They are the most glorious seeking sanctuary
And drinking from pure utensils unpierced

37. And they moan altogether springing atop
Stallions of crosses and steeds

38. Purebred horses galloping with the lions
Like falcons when swooping from confinement

39. They killed the brave warriors and hamstrung the valorous
Making their swords fodder for worries and markets

40. And O Abu Al-Qasim the refined elegist, O you
Who has every virtue inimitably performed

41. And who, when praises are prolonged, has
The final word and surpasses every orator

42. And who, when tribulations intensify, you say to him
“O reliever of distress, rather O expander of confinement”

43. And who, when an objective is difficult and for him is
A position we hope for from him to accomplish

44. I praise you for whatever good you wish for indeed
All people confirm my testification

45. And of your traits I cast every laudation
With figurative language and of your beauty stolen

46. While you, O one whose scion is enabled in
The good company of pure lineage through lineage

47. You have excelled between the kings of earth in the position of what
Does not excel between glimpses of the eye and the winking

48. So may God increase you O Ali in superiority
Fulfilling the high honor in accomplishment

49. And make you accustomed to prosperous living happily with
Fortune, security, success and empowerment

50. And here they are from the keenest of mind, I concluded them
With eloquence and precise delivery
