1. O lightning, brilliant flashes
You have sparkled with tears of remorse

2. Your eyelids prevented the bliss of slumber
The visiting specter passed you by, weakening you

3. With yearning that consumed you utterly
When you remembered friends in passion

4. Moments of delight in love and harmony
The friends were determined to part, never diverting

5. From it while you arbitrated someone’s need
My soul is ransom for the slanderers at morn

6. And the camel mares bound with ropes
Lovely ones I grew up with, passionately

7. Dying heroically on the chests of men, arbiters
Note them through the veils with eager eyes

8. Like kohl of eyes, sickly
And casting from the corner of eyes that made our hearts

9. For their glances like targets
Displaying their innocence to us, but when they rejected us

10. With their beauty, they cast us off
Though the fair ones unite, you will never see

11. In their love the quality of sincerity
And how can one who is parted find love

12. In the fair whose traces are like a white page
Though old age shows its wisdom to you

13. The prime of youth is forgotten
And death is more soothing to the wealthy than living

14. Among the living with old age and hatreds
What holds back the ally of the home of poverty from

15. The long roads in the desolate lands
When the flames are kindled and the sparks increase

16. In the crashing stones heated red
I went farther than the heroes with characteristics

17. Like the strong, the bright, the valiant
The vile follows them with lowered gaze

18. And averted eyes full of disapproval
They carry the burdens of praise as fuel

19. Seeking my satisfaction from it
And when they reach Abu Al-Hussein they pasture around me

20. In a meadow amidst enclosures
They make the hands of the destitute wealthy

21. And return to the ruins to rebuild
A rain when our hopes are barren

22. They drive it to pasture between gardens
Generosity, courage, dignity and glory

23. Fill his flowing robe
Then he is clothed in wisdom and armored with prohibition

24. Indifferent to the ignorant or overlooking
You have beautified, Abu Hassan, the traits of a youth

25. Keen to attain the highest goals
Every great feat has been shouldered

26. And the ocean plowed by every despised diver
You have risen above the towering heights with resolve

27. And the brilliant judgment of a determined shining light
You took on the duty of supporting the exalted

28. A successor to the excellent predecessors
You are capable of every virtue

29. And abstaining from every baseness
You walked in benevolence like a glorious predecessor

30. Following the ways of early times
And you have spread in earning virtues a comfort

31. Like the sea casting its overflowing fullness
Continuing thereby to satisfy desires

32. And heal the wounds of calamity, the biting
The beauty of your reputation still undertakes

33. To compensate for the greatest misfortune
Your stature prevented you from an act

34. That would dishonor you and brand as tainted
Omar bin Nabhan built for you

35. A foundation of might that cannot be toppled
So greet and live undertaking our needs

36. You are the intercessor, your benevolence the judge
And may God decree your pleasure with me

37. For in your kindness I am pleased and appeased
To you it is like an exquisite bride

38. In whom is the cure for care and sickness
It crossed the mind of moral wisdom

39. Kindled like glowing embers
God reward the two poets, for they
