1. Do as is your excellent custom, Abu Hasan
For a servant indebted to your favors

2. Place this poem where it belongs
And take from my praise what is not its price

3. For you are most deserving of what I offer in praise
Since you were worthy of the gifts you bestowed

4. Say to the seeker of wealth through toil
On land and sea, the journeys of ships

5. Enough! The world has sufficed, Abu Umar
He is content with the rest of the cities

6. If you see him confused yet smiling
You attain wealth as if poverty never was

7. Or you sneer at the softness of his jealousy
You come across the pearl of life from the bend of bliss

8. O House of Nubahan, may God protect your glory
In might and suffice you against the tyranny of time

9. I have set my poetry on praising you
More fitting than describing rhinoceroses and lizards

10. The increase of excellence to the generous Azd
Has become known, and the right hand of glory belongs to Yemen
