1. O driver of camels from Najd
Inform my first loved ones in Aden

2. That my body is in the grip of passion
My heart pledged to them, held ransom

3. I spend my nights sleepless in the darkness
Sweet sleep is unlawful to my eyelids

4. Except to shed copious tears on my cheeks
Abundant as the downpour from dark clouds

5. Seek my response, O departing one
From the gazelle with the languid, alluring glance

6. His face's light rivals the very moon
And tell him what my state is without him

7. For sorrow has exposed my body’s secret
As for me, true I remain to my vow

8. This separation has only increased my sorrow
I wonder, O darkness of my eyes

9. Has your beloved regained his place in your heart?
Or had you forgotten him when we were apart

10. And were unaware of any news of him?
Where then is what lay between you and him

11. Of past promises, O moon?
How can you conceal what you make plain

12. What ails you, O slender-waisted one?
God forbid this of you, O crescent of Sha’ban

13. O most melodious of melodies, O tempter
O you whose stature is like a pliant bough

14. My soul ransoms you, O well-formed one
For your roving glance has robbed me

15. Oh what sorrow your loss has caused me
Where is the one who captivates my heart?

16. He is in Aden while I am atop the mountain
But my hope lies in He who has favored

17. Every soul under the Pleiades
That He may return the branch to its root

18. With a sublime, gentle, sweet union
O keeper of women, loud-voiced and curly haired

19. Full-bearded, rough-handed, generous
Bless the day your face is revealed

20. And I pluck the flowers of your cheeks
And I drink deep the saliva of your lips

21. And press my cheek against your radiant one
Perhaps that might soothe my troubled soul

22. Sa’di, if I attain this, then blessed am I
For that would be the greatest of favors to me

23. I swear by your life, O leader of the houris
O slender-waisted, delicate, created of light

24. O brother of pearls, gazelle, carnelian
My passion for you comes from the Divine

25. And for love of you, my being knows no rest
For I am mad for your rosy cheek

26. And none but you dwells in my heart
O my pearl in body and smiling lips

27. O tormentor with languid, deep-set eyes
The secret of my love for you is beyond words

28. By the sanctity of harmony and affection between us
And I am a prisoner, consumed with passion

29. Since the command of the King of Yemen, the Valiant, the Just
The Sultan, the Noble One of Lu’dh’a and Arhab

30. The guardian of faith and belief
Who excels all others in munificence

31. And has blanketed mankind with kindness and charity
And grace, justice and favor

32. The chosen one, man of honor, trustee
May Allah make you endure, O builder

33. For you defend the Prophet's religion
And you remain triumphant over the enemy

34. May you live in bliss, prosperity and happiness evermore
And a thousand blessings upon the Mahdi
