1. O epitome of perfect beauty, show compassion
To a devotee, worn down, revered and gentle

2. For every ardent lover has kept his promise
To his beloved, yet to your lover, you are cruel

3. When will sorrow leave us, O you who bring glad tidings
As Jacob was brought the good news of Joseph

4. I complained of anguish, but not to a listener
I poured out my laments, but not to a consoler

5. Neither the intense cold, though it grew severe
Nor the icy wind could quell my burning desire

Mixed with honey, can extinguish

7. All the waters of the universe cannot quench my thirst
Only your sweet, pure drink will slake and satisfy

Then I and the Prophet are never content without your nearness

14. O soul of my soul, then my soul and comfort
For my love for you is natural, without pretense

15. I will not turn away from you even if you are unfair
I will pursue desire, even if it leads to separation

16. As if my path were the edge of a sword
I would follow you, unwilling to lag behind

17. Moses' feet defied magic, bewitching
My staff defies all magic but love's enchantment

18. If Bilqis brought forth the greatest throne in the world
Then you, secret of my soul, every throne I will snatch for you

19. So the suns of the past have faded away
While our sun eternally remains, it does not disappear

20. He is the chosen master of the Hashemites
He is the praiseworthy one in every stance

21. Stop, O my paltry talent, stop here!
For after God Himself has praised him

22. What is my praise to him, and my presumption?
O Ahmad, has any Hashimite raid

23. Or raid of the Chosen One warded off harm?
Upon him, may God's prayers as long as the shining dawn

24. As long as the morning breeze blows through every valley
