1. I never allowed my glances a path
They made my heart slain by glances

2. O you who avoided preserving the look of beauty
While leaving blood, you claim with that to be noble

3. It is a look that brings you harm
So if you avoid it, you have done good

4. Beware of youth, it is the greatest sedition
Through which you get harm and evil

5. The noon of disgrace is stolen from love
So how many nobles became through it disgraced

6. And how many claiming piety were reasonable
Tasted love until it made them ignorant

7. Its beginning comes with mood easiness
And if it settles you find it heavy

8. O killer of God’s love, it
Blinds the unwise and twists the interpretation

9. So how many were slain by its sword
I cannot count their number

10. How many humans pined for the love of Hind [woman's name], and how many
Tasted anguish like Qays the passionate lover of Layla

11. And many from extreme passion and dignity
Tasted anguish and totally destroyed beauty

12. This, and I fear if my love lasts
Passion appears and destroys reason

13. It accumulated upon me from love tribulations
Above feeling and increased my humiliation

14. Against contentment, and my watcher is its preventer
And the gloating of enemies and blame of the jealous

15. No day came in which their love pleased me
I did not accept the one who points and what is pointed to

16. If the mother of a newborn calf left it and it became
The trails are erased and no more followed

17. She seeks it and does not rest a pasture
Yearning for it and not resting a shelter

18. It did not inflict upon her some of what afflicted me
No, and did not carry for that heavy weight

19. If what is upon me descends above my head
It would not settle and the valleys would fill with floods

20. And its elevation would become lowness and its
Sides would collapse until it becomes a stream

21. Do you think there are horrors like the horrors of love?
Its horrors are continuous awful horrors

22. By God, how difficult is the riding of the passionate
I left him subdued by the horrors of death

23. He created beauty for us the dominant sedition
Equal between our foolish and wise

24. O heart, maybe you pasture or fold
Or you seek to divert from this love

25. Adorn your ode with praise of Muhammad
The best of creation, how much that messenger surpassed

26. If it is said his beloved was Abraham
Muhammad became His love and friend

27. The Almighty Lord witnessed his truth
And through him the Protector sent down the revelation

28. Eulogies after praising our God
Became in his right light and few

29. Even if I am the unjust to myself
His love became the purpose and question

30. Far it is for your lover to be expelled
Or banished or seen as abandoned

31. Then prayer upon you whenever the breeze blows
And the companions together morning and evening
