1. Tell the one with languishing eyes,
What does he see in the state of his lover?

2. Sleepless, having abandoned his bed,
Prolonging estrangement completes him.

3. With strange sin that amazed him -
How can they spurn me when I pity him?

4. One who has a neighbor and loses him,
And by Allah's right he obliges him.

5. Though the distance grew long,
I do not turn away from loving him.

6. I find my misguidance in him guidance,
And my pleasure in his reproach.

7. Despite the hostility of enemies,
Had he been loyal in his nearness.

8. But his sought one did not find,
And the Lord of creation deprived him.

9. The harshest sin and ugliest -
Is one who strived to kill a Muslim.

10. Every servant, you are his master,
Nobility ascended over creation,

11. And hills of stars in their setting,
In a sky, celestial sphere of highest description.

12. If you were not alone in beauty,
Then I am alone in passion for you.

13. Every served one ascended in nobility,
His servant became exalted among people.

14. Though estrangement grew long,
I surrender to His ordainment,

15. And I found no sympathizer for me
Except acceptance of His acceptance.

16. When the healers are corrupt,
The patient perishes by his illness.

17. Is it proper that I see water,
Yet I, thirsty, am deprived of it?

18. Addicted am I to beating and love,
