1. Say: "God suffices me; in Him let the trusting trust."
How excellent a Guardian is He! None after Him can guard.

2. Our lineage to them is a noble ties
The truth of which perplexes every obstinate arguer.

3. The scholars have authenticated it through various paths,
Whoever desires to dispute me regarding it, let him come forth.

4. And if he was never able to debate me,
Or he harbored any doubt in his heart,

5. Let him look at the biographies of the honorable, for verily
Our beliefs have been described for comprehension and doubt.

6. For all of them, in everything they compiled,
Said, glorifying our lineage in ancient times.

7. Like Al-Ahdal, the spiritual ocean in his fame,
And Yahya, leave the course of the Great Bear!

8. And Al-Yafi’i - and Al-Khuza’i likewise -
And Sheikh Al-‘Awaji and Al-Sharji did not permit.

9. And Ibn Abi Hab declared it - and Al-Jundi -
And Ibn Hassan has a saying that remedies ailments.

10. The scholar, the traditionist, the narrator - and whoever
Has majesty through the lights of splendid tradition.

11. If his lineage, O questioner, is from Hajar,
Then that is the essence of the people of knowledge and deed.

12. He proved the pride in our lineage as an honor,
So suffice yourself with the ocean, do not ask about the rivulet!

13. And in their path came Ibn Samura and Al-Shaykh
Al-Maraghi - so judge without transgression!

14. Abu Shakir has, in documenting our lineage,
And for the Prophet, what falls short of the excellent robes.

15. And Ibn Kubaytham has, regarding it, a good compilation,
Like a pearl that shows the beauty of the neck where it rests.

16. Al-Sakhawi praised it with elegant eulogy -
Whereas they fell short in detail and prose.

17. Likewise did Abu Al-Fadl in genealogy - his superiority
Over others is without doubt or wavering.

18. And this was said by Abu ‘Abbad, our pillar,
A saying from one described in speech without folly.

19. Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr - what a noble
Protector of the sanctities of religion against disputation!

20. O questioner, who is like us, ever,
Among those who walk or ride high on camels?

21. We are the generous, the sons of generous people. When
We have ancestors, we judge to the torrential raincloud.

22. For us is the generosity that has encompassed all people -
How much has our open-handedness made fertile from barrenness!

23. If the ocean had entities, we would see,
With generosity, shyness overcome it.

24. For our ancestor, from the God of the Throne, is a station
That has not been attained or reached.

25. God of the Throne send prayers upon him whenever
Parchment rustled with secrets of inclination!

26. And upon his Family, Companions, and followers - from an aspect
And his supporters - with swords white and cutting!
