1. The one who said we are immortal was wrong
After decay, we are all gone

2. If we knew what was before existence
We'd know what's after annihilation

3. If we were, as they claim, to return
Our souls wouldn't fear the decree of fate

4. Saying we're eternal
Is an idea born of the love of permanence

5. We love survival because we fade
And hopes live in every living being

6. They claimed souls last forever
Deceiving us and the candle alike

7. Light lingers in it, kindled
But when it's burnt out, radiance fades

8. Where was the light, how did it exist
How did it disappear when the structure fell?

9. My two candles are a sign for seekers of certainty
A lesson that drives away their confusion

10. The soul is only this body
With it she came, with it she returns

11. She didn't exist before it existed
And so when it goes, she follows

12. So lies and nonsense
Are our claims souls cannot die

13. Passion remains while branches thrive
When they're gone, nothing remains in them

14. If the soul cannot decay
We'd grieve whenever a body perishes

15. If the soul were an independent being
Whoever can see this body could see it

16. All that on earth, of essence and shadow
Will dissolve as the foam disintegrated

17. And if true we'll be resurrected
It's possible that resurrection will be followed by death

18. If only those who likened us to flowers
Would tell us where the scent goes

19. Does it last like songs of ages?
Or fade like cries of mourning?

20. I wonder what eternity seeds have
When cast into raging fires

21. Say to those lost in the night of conjectures
There's no quenching thirst after death

22. As color leaves the leaf
When its roots wither in the earth

23. As pupils lose their light
When this life of mine expires

24. It will fade like a burning candle
Vanishing between laughs and wails

25. After death, I'll be nothing
Since I wasn't anything before

26. Hey children of the earth, race of apes
Justify yourselves with nonsense

27. Cloak your consciousness with rigidity
And dream miracles in your sleep

28. For a time unlike the present will come
When truths will crumble around you

29. And God will dissolve in water and clay
To be seen by the living young and old
