1. Grant me, O twinkling stars
And bless me, O fragrant flowers

2. I send poetry to the world, yearning
Radiance and charming melody

3. When it stirs a soul, it trembles
When it touches a heart, it flutters

4. When recited to a longing one, it heals
When narrated to a weeping one, it consoles

5. For some people, poetry is wisdom
For others, poetry is nobility

6. I don’t find poetry sweet when
It is not an orchard or horizon

7. Blessed be our night among nights
When the free are honored with etiquette

8. A poet who never entered an arena
Except he was the foremost

9. Not a writer, but a loving cloud
How much did it water souls with wine and give drink

10. Say to whoever tries to catch up with him
This is a talent that cannot be caught up with

11. A pen that protects its nation
With mercy while the world pours adversity

12. And if it is hurt or wronged
It rains the world with blazing downpour

13. Its shrieks roar like a young camel
Bleating in its enclosure or squeezed

14. It is for the truth until it prevails
And against falsehood until it perishes

15. He spent his life serving it
Alas, how costly is that which he spent

16. Say to whoever tries to disturb him
In its protection, he will not be disturbed

17. And whoever tries to anger him
He is most noble and most forbearing

18. A prince feared by a state
Fearing the daring and insolent

19. He is like the sun, none can reach it
No matter how high the climber climbed

20. Your jubilee makes edicts null
Baghdad celebrated it with decoration
