Both of them lost in thought

12. The listener doesn’t laugh at his joke
See how many lessons the jester brings

13. A story in which is revealed to you
How the truthful converses with the deceitful

14. And the mirror breaks its covenant
And how the criminal is punished by the killer

15. Indeed, man is his manners
The deficient and the perfect are not equal

16. And the soul is like a mirror—if neglected
The eating rust rises upon it

17. And people are cycles—so one ascending
Chasing the stars, and one descending

18. And time is states—so one day
You feel hope and one day your bliss is complete

19. So they exemplified ignorance and its harms
Until even the ignorant oppose their ignorance

20. And they exemplified merit and its signs
So that the virtuous man may excel more

21. And they depicted glory and its splendors
Perhaps the sleeping wakeful one may awaken

22. And the East returns to its prime
Like the waning moon returns

23. And build for those who come after you
What the successor builds for the one he succeeds

24. As long as you are the supporters of truth
Never will falsehood prevail
