تَأمَّلreflect بِفَضلِكَin your kindness ياO واقِفاًone who stands
وَلاحِظand behold مَكاناًa place دفعناwe were driven إِلَيهto it

تُرابُdust الضَريحِof the tomb عَلىupon صَفحَتيmy cheek

The dust of the tomb is upon my cheek,
My grave's dust lies upon my cheeks
as though I had never once walked upon it.
As though I'd never walked this earth

فَهاso here أَناI قَدindeed صِرتُI have become رَهناًa hostage لَدَيهin its keeping
