ما العيدُ في حلَّة وَطاق

ما العيدُ في حلَّة وَطاق

وَشمُّ طِيب

وَشمُّ طِيب

Eid is not in fine attire and a shawl,

What is this feast of fragrant scent

nor in smelling perfume;

and fancy dress?

وَإِنَّما العيدُ التَلاقي

وَإِنَّما العيدُ التَلاقي

مَعَ الحَبيب

مَعَ الحَبيب

rather, Eid is a meeting

True celebration is found

with the beloved.

in reunion with one's beloved.
