وَليand I have واحِدٌone مِثلlike فَرخِa chick of القَطاthe sandgrouse
صَغيرٌa little one تَخلَّفَstayed behind قَلبيmy heart لَدَيهwith him
And I have one child, like a sandgrouse chick,
a little one with whom my heart stayed behind.
نَأَتhas grown distant عَنهُfrom him داريmy home فَياso, oh وَحشَتيmy loneliness
لِذاكَfor that الشَخيصِlittle figure وَذاكَand that الوَجيهlittle face
My home is far from him—oh, my loneliness
for that little figure and that little face!
تَشَوَّقَنيhe longed for me وَتَشَوَّقتُهُand I longed for him
فَيَبكيso he weeps عَلَيَّfor me وَأَبكيand I weep عَلَيهfor him
He longs for me, and I long for him;
so he weeps for me, and I weep for him.
وَقَدand indeed تَعِبhas grown weary الشَوقlonging ماthe space بَينَناbetween us
فَمِنهُso from him إِليَّto me وَمَنّيand from me إِلَيهto him
And longing has grown weary between us,
passing from him to me, and from me to him.
