Tell the sons of Nawfal on my behalf: they have indeed stirred
Convey to the people of Nawfal from me, for they have attained
My indignation, when the news reached me.
The utmost limit from me, when the news came to me
القائِلينَthose who said يَساراًYasār لاdo not تُناظِرُهُgrant him respite

Those who said, 'Give Yasār no respite,'
Of those who counsel evil, do not look at them
Deceiving their lord in the matter when they advised him.
Deceiving their master in the matter when they were ordered
إِنَّindeed اِبنَthe son of وَرقاءَWarqāʾ لاnot تُخشىare feared غَوائِلُهُhis treacherous attacks
لَكِنbut وَقائِعُهُhis battle exploits فيin الحَربِwar تُنتَظَرُare awaited
Indeed, no treacherous harm is feared from Ibn Warqāʾ,
Indeed, the son of Waraqa is not to be feared for his misdeeds
But his exploits in war are awaited.
But his actions in war are to be awaited
لَولاwere it not for اِبنُthe son of وَرقاءَWarqāʾ وَالمَجدُand the glory التَليدُancestral لَهُbelonging to him

Were it not for Ibn Warqāʾ and his ancestral glory,
Were it not for the son of Waraqa and the inherited glory for him
They would have been few, neither mighty nor numerous.
They would have been few, neither prided nor multiplied
المَجدُglory فيamong غَيرِهِمothers than them لَولاwere it not for مَآثِرُهُhis noble deeds

Glory would lie with others, were it not for his noble deeds
Glory in others than them, were it not for his achievements
And his keeping himself steadfast while war blazes.
And his own patience, while war rages

Woe to them, then woe again! May they be struck
It is more fitting for them, then more fitting that there should strike them
By devastating calamities from me that spare nothing and leave nothing;
From me deadly blows that leave neither remains nor traces

And may the camel-riders be entertained at their expense
And that the riders of steeds should be crippled by them
With every scandalous rhyme that becomes widely known.
With every despised ode made notorious
