    My poems will be borne on riding camels,

    until they alight among the sons of Warqaʾ:

    praises for them, whose acclaim they inherit,

    pledged to their last descendants, long enduring.

    Forbearing in the assembly whenever you come to them,

    fierce on a day of swirling dust and combat.

    أَو حارَبوا أَلوى مَعَ العَشّاءِ

    Those they made peace with gained honor in full;

    or those they fought perished at nightfall.
