    ولتَحْضُني يا إبُّ عمْرانا

    O Taiz, lend strength to our Sana'a;

    and embrace Amran, O Ibb.

    نَوحُ الثّكالى هَزّ عيْبانا

    Mukalla's tears poured into Aden;

    the wailing of bereaved mothers shook Ayban.

    قصف بادْلبَ هَزَّ دِرْعانا

    Damascus is a wound that groaned in Aleppo;

    bombardment in Idlib shook our Daraa.

    والشَّيْخُ في لبنانَ كَمْ عانى

    A calamity rages through the Levant;

    and the sheikh in Lebanon—how much he has suffered!

    Alas, O Baghdad! We were torn apart

    by a rift that loomed, stitching shrouds.

    ها قَدْ سَقاكِ الْكُلُّ خِذْلاَنا

    You opened your heart wide to humankind;

    behold, all have made you drink abandonment.

    Egypt, within my beating heart, has grown weary

    from treachery's blade, which severed our Sinai.

    والعَجْزُ مِنّي باتَ عَجْزانا

    Your eyes, my Cairo, reproach me;

    and my helplessness has itself become helpless.

    دَيْجورُ غَيٍّ مادَ يَغْشانا

    O Jerusalem, our resolve has been shattered;

    the pitch-darkness of error swayed, enveloping us.

    Zion has bridled us without reins,

    so it may desecrate the domes of our Al-Aqsa.

    In our denunciations are thundering speeches

    that forget the homeland and exalt a ruler.

    Clouds have thundered because of our lies,

    and so have rained down disgrace and loss.

    فالمَجْدُ غادَرَنا وخَلّانا

    My homeland, your pardon if my language weeps;

    for glory has left us and abandoned us.

    And Adnan has long lain slain,

    since the Arabs escorted Qahtan to burial.
