كَأَنَّكَas though you مُعطيهِgiving him الَّذيwhat أَنتَyou سائِلُهasking him for
You see him beaming whenever you come to him,
When you come to him, humbly,
As though you were giving him what you ask him for.
He seems as though you're the giver and he the asker.

Generous—when you come seeking his bounty,
Noble is he, when you come seeking favor,
He bestows on you whatever his fingertips close around.
He loves you for the care you show to him.
وَلَوeven if لَمnot يَكُنthere were فيin كَفِّهِhis palm غَيرُother than نَفسِهُhis own soul

Even if nothing were in his palm but his own soul,
Had he naught but himself in his possession,
He would give it freely—so let his petitioner fear God.
He would give it. So let the asker beware of God.
