إِذاif عَذَّبَpunishes اللَّهُGod الرِّجالَthe men بِشِعرِهمfor their poetry
إِذا عَذَّبَ اللَّهُ الرِّجالَ بِشِعرِهم
أَمِنتُI felt no fear لِكَعبٍfor Kaʿb أَنthat يُعَذَّبَhe be punished بِالشِّعرِfor poetry
أَمِنتُ لِكَعبٍ أَن يُعَذَّبَ بِالشِّعرِ
If God punishes men for their poetry,
When God torments men for their poetry
I have no fear that Kaʿb will be punished for poetry.
I hope Ka'b will not be tormented for his verses
