وَأَعلَم أَنَّني وَأَبا حُمَيدٍ

وَأَعلَم أَنَّني وَأَبا حُمَيدٍ

كَما النَّشوانُ وَالرَّجلُ الحَليمُ

كَما النَّشوانُ وَالرَّجلُ الحَليمُ

And I know that I and Abu Humayd

I know that Abu Humaid and I

are like the drunkard and the forbearing man.

Are like the leopard and the wise man -

أُريدُ حَياتَهُ وَيُريدُ قَتلي

أُريدُ حَياتَهُ وَيُريدُ قَتلي

وَأَعلَم أَنَّهُ الرَّجُلُ اللَّئيمُ

وَأَعلَم أَنَّهُ الرَّجُلُ اللَّئيمُ

I want him to live, while he wants to kill me.

I want his life, and he wants mine taken

And I know that he is an ignoble man.

And I know he is a wicked man

فَإِنَّ الحُمرَ مِن شَرِّ المَطايا

فَإِنَّ الحُمرَ مِن شَرِّ المَطايا

كَما الحَبِطاتُ شَرُّ بَني تَميمِ

كَما الحَبِطاتُ شَرُّ بَني تَميمِ

For donkeys are among the worst mounts,

For the red camels are the worst mounts

just as al-Habitat are the worst of Tamim’s sons.

As the Habitas are the worst clan of Tamim
