آنس اللَه وحشتي بكتاب
منكfrom you وافىarrived وقدand had أطالprolonged فواتيmy missing it
منك وافى وقد أطال فواتي
God soothed my loneliness with a letter
God relieved my loneliness with a letter
from you that arrived after long eluding me.
From you that arrived though long overdue
فتلافىand so rescued نفساًa soul تسيلdissolves منfrom الوجـlonging (word begins)
فتلافى نفساً تسيل من الوجـ
ـدlonging (word ends) وقلباًand a heart يذوبُmelts بالحسراتِwith regrets
ـد وقلباً يذوبُ بالحسراتِ
It rescued a soul dissolving with long-
So my soul was restored that pours from my cheek
ing, and a heart melting with regrets,
And my heart that melts with regrets
وجرىand flowed كالحياةlike life فيthrough كلall of جسميmy body
وجرى كالحياة في كل جسمي
بعدماafter قرَّبَbrought near الفراقُseparation وفاتيmy death
بعدما قرَّبَ الفراقُ وفاتي
and flowed like life through all my body,
And life flowed through my body
after separation had brought my death near.
