    فأمري وشأني غير ما ترياني

    Leave my eye to weep blood, and leave me;

for my plight and condition are not what you two see in me.

Leave this body of mine to bear its sickness alone,

and my heart amid fires and throbbing.

Leave me to melt my heart with passion,

and strike my own [unclear noun] with my spearhead.

For not everyone who weeps from longing is wasted with sickness,

nor is everyone who complains of love's ardor a captive.

    My heart and anguish meet,

and my eyelid and slumber are parted.

God has decreed love and passion for me as long as I live,

so passion and the soul have become united.

Have you two, O my companions, for averting what

God has decreed and made binding, two hands?
