سَلَكتُI pierced مَجامِعَthe junctions of الأَوصالِthe limbs مِنهُof him
سَلَكتُ مَجامِعَ الأَوصالِ مِنهُ
بِمُطرَدِwith a spear الوَقيعَةِof battle كَالخَلالِlike a skewer
بِمُطرَدِ الوَقيعَةِ كَالخَلالِ
I pierced the junctions of his limbs
I traveled the joints of appendages of him
with a battle spear, like a skewer.
With continuous misstep like bangles
فَحادَthen he turned away عَنِfrom الطِعانِspear-fighting أَبوAbu (father of) أُثالٍUthal
فَحادَ عَنِ الطِعانِ أَبو أُثالٍ
كَماjust as حادَturned away الأَزَبُّthe shaggy one عَنfrom الظِلالِthe shadows
كَما حادَ الأَزَبُّ عَن الظِلالِ
Then Abu Uthal turned away from spear-fighting,
So deviated from blaming the father of exemplars
as the shaggy one turned away from shadows.
As the hyena deviated from the shadows
