كَأَنَّ نِعامَ الدَوّ باضَ عَلَيهِم

كَأَنَّ نِعامَ الدَوّ باضَ عَلَيهِم

وَأَعيُنُهُم تَحتَ الحَديدِ خَوازِرُ

وَأَعيُنُهُم تَحتَ الحَديدِ خَوازِرُ

As though the ostriches of al-Daww had laid eggs upon them,

And their eyes beneath the iron peer sidelong.
