وَأَحلَلتُكُم مِن لُبنَ داراً وَخَيمَةً

وَأَحلَلتُكُم مِن لُبنَ داراً وَخَيمَةً

وَكُنتُم بِأَطرافِ القَنانِ بِمَرتَعِ

وَكُنتُم بِأَطرافِ القَنانِ بِمَرتَعِ

And I lodged you at Lubn in an unwholesome abode,

I gave you shelter made of date milk and tents

while you had been at pasture on the outskirts of al-Qanān.

And you were grazing at the edges of valleys

فَخَرتُم بِأَشياخٍ أُصيبوا بَخَنعَةٍ

فَخَرتُم بِأَشياخٍ أُصيبوا بَخَنعَةٍ

وَتَنسَونَ شُبّاناً أُنيمو بِضلفَعِ

وَتَنسَونَ شُبّاناً أُنيمو بِضلفَعِ

You boasted of elders struck down at Khanʿah,

Yet you attacked elders struck with frailty

and you forget young men laid to sleep at Ḍalfaʿ.

And forgot the young men sleeping in the wilderness
