O apparition of the martyred leader's statue,
O spirit of the statue of the martyred leader
You stirred noble sorrows in my breast,
You have stirred noble sorrows in my heart

وإنand though تعامتfeigned blindness عنto سناكyour radiance العيونthe eyes
And appeared to the soul as an image of immortality,
And presented to my soul an image of eternity
Though eyes feigned blindness to your radiance.
Though eyes may be blind to your brilliance

You passed among the people, but they did not welcome you
You were kind to your people, yet they did not
Except with a remembrance of feeble loyalty.
Welcome you except with pathetic loyalty

So forgive those who disowned you—may returning rain water you.
So forgive those whose pact disowned you
The ingrate does not recognize the face of kindness.
The ungrateful know not the beautiful face

I was imprisoned for ages, and the agate grew long.
I was imprisoned for ages in sorrow
So forgive if your supporter is powerless to help you.
So forgive if your helper grows weary

The people are captives; not one among them is free.
My people are all prisoners, none are free
Can a prisoner hope for a captive's aid?
Can the jailed expect aid from the captive?
