For a gracious letter came from you.
For a gracious letter has come from you.

وماand what تأنسونyou take delight بهin it منof نعيمbliss
وما تأنسون به من نعيم
Through it I learned how pleasant your days were,
I knew through it the goodness of your days,
And of the bliss in which you take delight.
And the bliss you find pleasure in.

A letter through which I recalled my bond with you,
A letter that reminded me of your era,
And it revived the old love in my heart.
Reviving in my heart an old passion.

حبيبا رأى أن يعود النديم
Lines amid which I saw
Lines in which I saw,
A beloved who thought the boon companion should return,
A loved one who wanted to return as a friend.
وأنand that يرجعreturn العهدthe old days عهدthe days of الصفاءunclouded affection
وأن يرجع العهد عهد الصفاء

وفي وجهه الحلو ثغر بسوم
And the old days return—the days of unclouded affection.
And to bring back the era of purity,
And on his sweet face, a smiling mouth.
With his sweet face and blossoming smile.

And Garden City—he recounted its splendor to me,
The garden of Sixty has restored its splendor for me,
And there, the melodies of a gazelle, perhaps softly calling,
Where a gazelle frolics.

لنار الغرام بذاك النسيم
And there, in the afternoon, his kindling
Where in the afternoon its fire is rekindled
Of love’s fire with that breeze.
For the fire of love by that breeze.
