وجنّ عليّ الليلُ حتى حسبتهُ
جفاءcoldness كريمof a noble man أوor رجاءhope in لئيمa base man
جفاء كريم أو رجاء لئيم
And night closed in upon me until I thought it
The night frowned at me until I thought it
the coldness of a noble man, or hope placed in a base one.
A generous aloofness or an ignoble hope.
