قالوا صحيحٌ فقلت كلا
ماnot صحّis sound منone whose رشدهhis good judgment قليلscant
ما صحّ من رشده قليل
They said, “He is well.” I said, “No.”
They said, “He is sound,” so I said, “No.”
No one whose sound judgment is scant can be sound.
No one whose good judgment is scant is sound.
فإنfor if يكنis جسمهhis body صحيحاًsound
فإن يكن جسمه صحيحاً
فقلبهthen his heart مدنفgravely ill عليلُailing
فقلبه مدنف عليلُ
Even if his body is healthy,
For if his body is sound,
his heart is wasted and ailing.
then his heart is gravely ill and ailing.
