إنما مات بالجوى من جفاني
I did not die of heartache, as you had thought;
I did not die of passion as you thought
only the one who shunned me died of heartache.
Rather, my passion died from those who abandoned me

أنا لو شئت توبة الروج منكم
هامwas enraptured عقلىmy mind بكمwith you وهامand was enraptured بيانيmy eloquence
هام عقلى بكم وهام بياني
Even if I wished my soul to turn away from you,
If I wanted the soul's repentance from you
my mind would be enraptured by you, and so would my eloquence.
My mind wandered to you and my expression wandered

يا يتامى مشرّدين أغيثوا
خائفاًa frightened man يحتمىtakes refuge بطيفin a phantom الأمانsafety
خائفاً يحتمى بطيف الأمان
O homeless orphans, come to the aid of
O orphaned ones lost, give me relief
a frightened man who seeks refuge in a phantom of safety.
Fearfully seeking refuge in the ghost of safety
يتمكمyour orphanhood فيin الجمالbeauty والحسنand loveliness يتمٌorphanhood
يتمكم في الجمال والحسن يتمٌ
هوit is يتمىmy orphanhood فيin الروضthe garden روضgarden المعانيmeanings
هو يتمى في الروض روض المعاني
