هذا ضريح ضمنه سيدٌ
لآلto the family of فتحFath (victory) اللهAllah (God) ينميbelongs by descent شريفa nobleman
لآل فتح الله ينمي شريف
This is a tomb that holds a lord,
Within this tomb lies a noble lord
a nobleman descended from the family of Fath Allah.
Of the house of Fatah Allah, whose honor grows
فيin عصرهhis time قدindeed كانhe was علامةan eminent scholar
في عصره قد كان علامة
صاحبa possessor of فضلmerit ومقامand standing منيفlofty
صاحب فضل ومقام منيف
In his time, he was indeed an eminent scholar,
In his time he was a shining symbol
a man of merit and lofty standing.
Of virtue and lofty station
والآنand now قدindeed اصبحhe has become فيin برزخthe intermediate realm after death
والآن قد اصبح في برزخ
ضيفاًa guest لمولاهof his Lord ونعمand how excellent المضيفthe host
ضيفاً لمولاه ونعم المضيف
And now, in the intermediate realm, he has become
And now he dwells in the isthmus
a guest of his Lord—and what an excellent Host!
A guest of his Master, welcomed and well-received
يرجىis hoped for لهfor him رضوانهHis favor دائماًalways
يرجى له رضوانه دائماً
لانهbecause he is هادٍa guide تقيGod-fearing عفيفchaste
لانه هادٍ تقي عفيف
It is hoped that His favor will be his forever,
May he ever enjoy God's good pleasure
for he is a guide, God-fearing and chaste.
For he was righteous, devout and chaste
وعنand on behalf of لسانthe voice of الحالthe state ارخrecord the date بفيwith my mouth
وعن لسان الحال ارخ بفي
فيin جنةthe garden of الفردوسParadise عبدAbd (servant of) اللطيفal-Latif (the Gentle One)
في جنة الفردوس عبد اللطيف
And, giving voice to his state, record the date from my lips:
And the state of his soul inscribed on his epitaph
Abd al-Latif is in the Garden of Paradise.
