مولاي فضلك ما فضل يماثله

مولاي فضلك ما فضل يماثله

إذ أنت واحد هذا العصر فاضله

إذ أنت واحد هذا العصر فاضله

My lord, no bounty matches yours,

My Master, your kindness has no equal

for you are this age’s peerless man of virtue.

For you are the most virtuous of this age

ارجوك اردوك في أمرٍ وعدت به

ارجوك اردوك في أمرٍ وعدت به

تعجيله لي فخير البر عاجله

تعجيله لي فخير البر عاجله

I beseech you—[‘they ruined you,’ unclear here]—regarding a matter you promised,

I implore you, fulfill what you have promised me

to hasten it for me, for the best kindness is that given promptly.

To hasten it for me, for the best deed is what is done promptly

لانني منذ حول قلما كسبت

لانني منذ حول قلما كسبت

يداي مالا وفكري جل شاغله

يداي مالا وفكري جل شاغله

For over the past year I have scarcely earned

For I have hardly earned any money with my hands this past year

money with my hands, and my mind’s burden has grown great.

And my thoughts have been preoccupied with making ends meet

فضاق صدري وصبري قل عن عمل

فضاق صدري وصبري قل عن عمل

بقوت من انا يا مولاي عائله

بقوت من انا يا مولاي عائله

So my breast grew tight, and my patience faltered at the toil

My patience has worn thin and my chest feels tight

of feeding those I support, O my lord.

As I struggle to provide for my family, O my Master

ودم ربيعاً لأهل العلم زدت علاً

ودم ربيعاً لأهل العلم زدت علاً

وكل من رام فضلاً منك نائله

وكل من رام فضلاً منك نائله

And remain a springtime for people of learning; may you rise in eminence.

You have brought great prestige to the people of knowledge

And everyone who seeks a favor from you receives it.

And all who seek your kindness are made happy

فتغنم الشكر من كل الورى ابداً

فتغنم الشكر من كل الورى ابداً

والمدح ممن بفضل أنت شامله

والمدح ممن بفضل أنت شامله

Thus you gain the gratitude of all humankind forever,

So you earn endless gratitude from all creation

and praise from those you enfold with bounty.

And praise from those you bless with your generosity

ولا تزال لك الدنيا مطاوعةً

ولا تزال لك الدنيا مطاوعةً

تنال من خيرها ما أنت آمله

تنال من خيرها ما أنت آمله

And may the world never cease to yield to you;

And the world continues to obey you

may you obtain from its blessings what you hope for.

As you attain from its goodness what you desire
