I have weaned my reed pen from praising all mankind,

save the praise it reserves for the sons of al-Zahra.

As for those, whoever praises them will indeed

be rewarded in this world and find happiness in the hereafter.

They are the noblest, the radiant ones, the finest lineage,

and highest in rank among mankind at all times.

And indeed, praise of oppressors, however high they rise,

is darkness and injustice, bringing humiliation and poverty.

For that reason, I have singled out for praise a lord,

noble and generous, possessing glory and honor.

He is al-Hasani, the virtuous, the perfect, whose

praises come to his door one after another.

An emir, he indeed attained the emirship while still a youth,

and was then more deserving of it than anyone else.

So may he ever remain honored in glory and prestige,

and engaged in work that brings him lasting gratitude and reward.
