لله جامعنا المشهور بالعمري
مشهودplain to see أنوارهits lights يزهوshines proudly علىabove القمرthe moon
مشهود أنواره يزهو على القمر
How splendid is our mosque, renowned as al-Umari!
Our famous mosque of Al-Omari
Its lights are plain to see; it outshines the moon.
Whose lights are witnessed shining over the moon
ياO جامعاًmosque جامعاًgathering نوراًlight ومنتزهاًand a place of delight
يا جامعاً جامعاً نوراً ومنتزهاً
ومعبداًand a house of worship مبعداًbanishing للغمsorrow والكدرand gloom
ومعبداً مبعداً للغم والكدر
O mosque, gathering light, and place of delight,
O mosque, O enlightened and joyous mosque
And house of worship, banishing sorrow and gloom!
And temple removing gloom and distress
ذوpossessed of المجدglory والجدand diligence والجدوىand generosity مجددهits renovator
ذو المجد والجد والجدوى مجدده
عبدservant المجيدthe Glorious مليكsovereign البدوthe nomads والحضرand the townspeople
عبد المجيد مليك البدو والحضر
Endowed with glory, diligence, and generosity is its renovator:
Of glory, dedication, and benefit renewing it
Abd al-Majid, sovereign of nomads and townspeople,
Abdul Majeed, king of nomad and settled alike
منfrom آلthe House of عثمانUthman زادmay increase اللهGod دولتهhis realm
من آل عثمان زاد الله دولته
عزاًmight ونصراًand victory وإقبالاًand prosperity مدىthroughout العمرlife
عزاً ونصراً وإقبالاً مدى العمر
From the House of Uthman—may God increase his realm
Of the house of Othman, may God augment its rule
In might, victory, and prosperity throughout his life.
With honor, victory, and ever-turning days
وقالand said يوسفYusuf فيin شطرa half-line يؤرخهdating it
وقال يوسف في شطر يؤرخه
للهto God (expressing admiration) جامعناour mosque المشهورrenowned بالعمريas al-Umari
لله جامعنا المشهور بالعمري
And Yusuf said in a half-line marking its date:
And Joseph said in a line dating it
